Registration is underway for the Douglas Youth Basketball Developmental League which is open to boys and girls in the first through eighth grades. Registration will take place May 29 through June 9 from 10-5 Monday through Saturday at Ortega’s Sportsworld. The fee is $35. Bruce Whetten/Douglas Dispatch

Registration is currently underway for the Douglas Youth Basketball Developmental League which is open to boys and girls in the first through eighth grades.

Registration will take place May 29 through June 9 from 10-5 Monday through Saturday at Ortega’s Sportsworld. The fee is $35.

League officials say they are hoping to make this a summer feeder program for the high school and the number of games will be determined by the number of kids that sign up. There will also be an end of the tournament at which time a league champion will be crowned.

The league will be run by grade levels. The lower age groups will be taught the basic skills while the higher age groups will play by high school rules.

Coaches and sponsors are also needed. Anyone wanting more information may call Sportsworld at 364-5721.
