Juggler extraordinaire entertains 150

On Monday, June 4 the Douglas Public Library in conjunction with the Friends of the Douglas Library kicked off their Summer Reading Program where James Reid, Juggler Extraordinaire, entertained about 150 children and parents at the 10th street Park.

Reid has been entertaining audiences across the Arizona for the past 30 years. He delivered big fun and big tricks like juggling while hula hooping, and big bowling ball juggling.

Reid wowed the audience with his flaming juggling and even asked the audience to participate in some of his juggling tricks.

Alexis Carrillo, 9, was asked to place a yoyo on her head while Reid swiftly removed it with a jump rode. “I was scared and excited at the same time,” Carrillo said.

Reid also juggled swords around Curtis Forest while the former librarian sat terrified.

The Summer Reading Program will run through July 19, family/pre-kinder, Thursdays 10:15-11:30; youth ages 5-9, Mondays and Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. and youths ages 9-13, Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m.

From June 26-July 19, Teen Nights ages 13-18, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8 p.m.

On June 20 a magician will perform at Castro Park at 5 p.m.

July 19 Mad Science Sparking Imaginative Learning will also be at Castro Park at 3:30 p.m.

The Summer Reading Program will end with boat races at the Veterans Park Memorial Swimming Pool on 8th Street; boats will be made out of milk carts.
