Celia was a longtime resident of Elfrida, Arizona

She was born on a farm near West Branch, Michigan on July 29, 1917 to DeMoss and Nettie Arden. Her parents moved to Flint, MI six years later and she attended Flint schools.

In 1941, while working for the Dept. of Revenue in Lansing, MI she met and married Paul J. Nott. His work took him to Detroit and until the war was over she worked as secretary/typist in government offices. At the end of the war, they moved to Saranac, MI where they operated a restaurant. In 1947, when her husband’s health demanded a change of climate, they moved to Douglas, AZ, where they operated a Drive-Inn café.

In 1951 they moved to Fort Huachuca. There she worked as secretary to the Post QM until the end of the Korean War, choosing to move to Elfrida in 1953, residing there until April of 2011 when she was almost 94. Her husband opened Notts Insurance office in Sierra Vista in 1953. They also voluntarily managed the Elfrida water system for 5 years.

She had many hobbies such as stamp and rock collecting, writing poetry, flower arranging, and playing the piano. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and church activities.

In 1998 she represented the State of Arizona at the National Conference of Family & Community Education in Bismarck, ND where she was awarded a ‘Heart of FCE’ award for volunteerism. Later she was awarded a 50 year Certificate of membership in the same organization, formerly known as “Extension Homemakers”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers Leo, Ted (Theodore), and Bud (Sylvan) Arden, and her sister Laura Hoffman. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 9th at Elfrida Baptist Church. Celia will be buried beside her husband in the McNeal Cemetery. She touched many lives in her nearly 95 years and will be missed by many.
