The activity “Meeting our Pen-Pals” consists of a student having a secret friend from another school and they wrote each one to another two letters per month for a whole year. A year later, third grade teachers from both schools and parents as well decided it was time to let them meet and they organized a small party at the Aquatic Center with hot dogs and other treats to do so.

From 8-12 p.m. students enjoyed the facilities by being allowed to use the swimming pool and to play around the area.

Both teachers Dora Mendoza from Sarah Marley and Eddie Molina from Faras agreed that the activity provided the students with a lot of new writing and social skills, since they learned what a friendly letter is and they found a new friend from outside of their own schools.

This year represents the ninth consecutive year that Molina supervised the activity while it was the first year for Mendoza.
