Officials for the Cochise County Sheriffs Office are continuing their investigation into a home invasion that occurred Sunday in Pirtleville.

According to Carol Capas of the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday her department was advised of a home invasion/assault that occurred at a residence in the 400 block of East Crystal Avenue in Pirtleville.

Capas said upon arrival the deputies made contact with a male and female who stated that they had returned home after lunch Sunday.

“When the two got out of their car in the driveway, they were approached by a male subject wearing a Halloween mask and reportedly armed with a handgun,” Capas said.

According to the victims, Capas said, the man forced them inside the residence where he proceeded to tie up the male victim and take the female victim to the back room where he assaulted her. The female also told deputies she was then taken back to the living room and tied up next to the male victim, while the suspect ransacked the house.

Capas said the suspect was reportedly inside of the home for several hours taking personal items and leaving with the victim’s 2002 silver Mercury Sable.

The vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center database as stolen and was recovered in an alleyway in Douglas in the early Monday morning.

Capas said this appears to be an isolated incident and as of yet there is no motive. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office at 432-9500.

All information received will remain confidential, she said.
