Dear Editor,

I visited the Douglas Mercado on Sunday, June 10th at the Castro Park on 10th Street. I saw that it is a nice place to meet nice people, listen to music, find delicious food, nice jewelry, fresh eggs and vegetables, reused items and see children having fun!

Delicious food, bread and pastries vendors were there. They included Irene, Denise, Bob, Barbara, Keoki Mr. & Mrs. Martinez and Mr. & Mrs. Montano. All together they had fruit salads, empanadas, tortillas, loaves of bread, scones, nut bars, red or green chill burritos, BBQ Sandwiches, snow cones and other tasty food.

There were vendors selling plants, produce, earth worms and manure. Sister Mary sold various plants such as mini garlic, scales and zucchini. Vern sold eggs, earth worms and manure. Edwin sold potatoes and greens.

Other vendors sold other items. Barbara sold birds, house plants, dried herbs and chili oil. Levonne and Inez had homemade jewelry. Lea and Don sold reused items such as gardening books, music discs and tools. Lindsay and Caitlin face painted colorful designs which the children really enjoyed.

The Douglas Mercado is fun and I encourage you to come out next Sunday to listen to live Blues music played by T.S. Henry Webb.

Sincerely

Kacie Tyler
