Adventures on Promise Island

An estimated 80 kids attended the Faith Ministries Vacation Bible School on 11th Street; this year’s theme was “Adventures on Promise Island”.

Children ages 5-12 participated in games, arts and crafts and many other activities through out the week.

Every morning we start with a group session which included songs and dancing, students then would be split up into their age groups and would do either crafts, games, bible lessons or snacks, said Nina Nelson coordinator of the event.

“Every year when they come, our goal is to get them to learn more about God,” Nelson said.

Faith Ministers has been holding the VBS for over 15 years in Douglas, providing the local youth to learn more about God and have fun at the same time.

Funding for the Bible School is mostly provided by church members. C.A.S donated snacks for all the kids, and Douglas High School donated the decorations for the theme.

This year the camp members raised over $200 in offerings, for Vacation Bible Schools in Agua Prieta, said Denise Meechan, VBS Director, so the kids over there may have a similar experience as they did.
