Luis “Archie” Loreto passed away June 7, 2012 in Douglas. He was born in Villa Juarez, Sonora on March 17, 1953 to Guadalupe Miranda and Ramon Loreto.


Archie and his mother moved to Douglas on September 30, 1960. Archie, as he was known to many, lived most of his life in Douglas. He also briefly made his home in Willcox, Arizona before returning back home to Douglas earlier this year.

Archie is survived by his mother Guadalupe Perez and his children, Melissa Loreto and Sandra Loreto of Douglas, Michael, Joey, Erika and Steven Loreto of Tucson, his sister Lucy Perez, brothers Tony Perez of Temecula, California, Manuel Perez and Robert Perez of Douglas, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Archie was an avid musician for many years and was well known for his musical talents. As a young man he played in local bands. In the late sixties he played with “Brown Eye” with several local residents. Brown Eye participated in several battle of the bands winning several competitions. Archie also played in Agua Prieta with “Los Campeadores del Cid,” the house band to the original El Cid Campeador Night Club. For several years Archie and his brother Manny played music together at many local events and throughout Cochise and Graham Counties. In the early 2000’s Archie retired his keyboard, but never lost his love and desire for music.

A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated following the Rosary at 11:00 a.m. with Father Gilbert Malu officiating.

Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

    " My family and I express our sincere condolences to his family. We enjoyed having him sing in my sons studio here in Tucson. The time we passed are most memorible.
