With the win the local All-Stars qualify for the state tournament which takes place this weekend on Fort Huachuca.

The local All-Stars began the tournament beating Sierra Vista 24-2 June 27.

Rachael Robles, Andi Morales and Jocelyn Hurtado each pitched in the game.

On Thursday Douglas faced Rio Rico. Tied 1-1 at the end of six innings the game moved to extra innings. In the top of the eighth Morales hit a double and Yasmin Murguia followed with a triple scoring Morales and giving Douglas a 3-2 lead.

Rio Rico had bases loaded and two outs when lightning intervened forcing the game to be suspended till the next day where it was resumed at the point it was suspended the night before.

Morales, who had been pitching the day before was unable to return due to a pulled muscle.

Rachael Robles took the circle, threw two pitches and the game was over.

These same two teams faced off against each other for the District 8 championship an hour later.

Robles was the winning pitcher this game as Douglas cruised to a mercy rule win.

Douglas played all four games with just nine players.

Hitters for Douglas were not reported in any of the four games.

" Are these allegations of misconduct with the leagues money true? I think the kids of the league deserve a response. If not, you should resign. This is a very wrong thing to do to our children. The below message hit the nail on the head, You guys are government employees. What are you thinking. You can have problems at work being a federal employee. I would not want my child on any league or travel team that you two are apart of. Shame on you two. This is so wrong. "

You new you were bending the rules so quit putting the blame on others accept responsibility fo what youve done to your girls and the entire douglas girlssoftball league. youve used the league to finace your own pockets and your own travel team. stop blaming others and accept that some of the responsibilty is yours. your to blamefor the embarassmnt and shame the girls will have to endure over the years. they did nothing wrong YOU did. how can you honestlulook yourself in the mirror. on top of that you and your husband are government employees. Is that how you do your jobs too? lies and decit? then blame others? "

" I'm so glad I no longer live in Douglas. The sports programs are not being run fairly in Douglas. There have always been problems with stacking teams, breaking rules, allowing pitchers to pitch illegally, etc. but its gotten so much worse now. I'm so ashamed to say I'm from there. It's unfortunate that the coaches and members who run the leagues now do not realize what they do to the kids. All they care about is winning and will win no matter how its done. Good job coaches! You owe these girls a huge apology for teaching these bad acts of politics and poor sportsmanship. "

" Enough already. Everyone in Douglas knows that this is a travel team. That is against the rules. Period. Eddie Gonzalez knew that rule. Eddie Gonzalez exploited, broke that rule when he did this same thing with his Goldfire team. Zinnia and her husband both knew this rule. They decided to listen to Eddie, and interm broke the same rule. You all knew what you were doing. Why do you keep crying about it and blamming everyone. You knew the rules, whether it is the games played rule, or entering a travel ball team into little league. It is illegal to do both. You knew exactly what you were doing. This is just like a criminal breaking the law, knowing they are breaking the law, then crying foul when they get caught. The coaches of this team, and Gonzalez need to take responibility for there actions. "

" Unfortunately, little league has always been tainted on the border from Douglas to Nogales. The communities put more emphasis on winning than teaching the game, respecting the game and teaching the boys/girls life long values. It's funny when a team not from the border travels there and begins to win, the strike zone gets tighter and the umps no longer speak english.. Looks like a taste of there own medicine. Time to clean up the league and get rid of everyone on the board and current coaches. Heck...the parents at the high school level are just as bad! "

" Regardless of what you got caught cheating with, cheating is cheating. You are not in a league. Get that through your heads. You did not make your Allstar selections from different teams in your league. Oh yes, you don't have a league. And that's right, you guys have a crooked director. We do know how to lose, You just don't know how to win fair. "

" We just finished our District Tounament in Tucson. I was Manager of the Copper Hills District all-stars which represents the Sahuarita area. We selected our all-stars from the three teams that represented Sahuarita in our league. When we played in the District all-star tournament we were fortunate to make it to the finals against a Sunnyside team that was far better then any other team in the tournament. Come to find out a complaint was filed by another Sunnyside District parent. They claimed the Sunnyside team used a club team (travel team) to doctor the records to qualify them for the tournament. The parent was upset because it denied the other girls in the league to experience the all-star's because the league was more concerned about winning by cheating, not the other girls who really deserved it. I think little league needs to really look into this problem and shame on the league Officials who are allowing this. "

Play by the Rules wrote on Jul 18, 2012 3:44 PM:

" The girls are not at fault, the Douglas coaches and Brooks Bishop are responsible. When you play Little League you know you play according to rules that are followed all over the country, national. Brooks Bishop drives a car with little league stickers all over it and has been the administrator in 3 different districts, he knows better and shame on him. It is also not fair to let a group of girls play exclusively for over a year just to put them in a little league tournament against teams that have followed the rules and put teams together a month ago from a pool of girls. The Douglas girls are a travel team and that is what they should play, travel ball. You are not allowed to have girls play together all year and just join a tournament, even if they did find 12 games to play. Are these the only ten 12yr olds in Douglas? Why weren't there 2-3 teams from Douglas in little league? Want to know why, because Douglas wanted to use their best girls, play them in travel tournaments and get them ready to play in a little league tournament which is ILLEGAL. So say what you want but the bottom line is that they were not a little league team, they did not follow the rules and were disqualified and Brooks Bishop should be asked to resign for allowing it and creating this mess. For an old man who likes to talk like he is God Almighty and he knows it all, he tried to skirt the same system he represents. Douglas needs to put all 200 of their girls in the little league system and make it fair, funny how they have 200 girls playing softball in the city league but only 10 girls playing Little league, Hmmmmmmm, want to talk about fair, give me a break! "

" Rio Rico fan thats such an interesting accusation! If you only knew that you are not that you reason they were disqualified! But if that makes you feel better, than you keep telling yourself that you are the reason! If the team was using another players name don't you think that they would have found out after checking all the documentation before each game? Didn't they announce all of the girls names at the game? Of course you would have to be a Rio Rico fan to make up a rumor just because your town doesn't know how to lose! Do you know for sure or are you just mad because our girls beat your girls? I AM PERSONALLY SO PROUD OF DOUGLAS for making it this far! It's not their fault that they were not scheduled to play enough games! I believe that all teams at this tournamnent expected Douglas to not play as well as they did! Way to go girls, way to prove many people wrong!! "
