4 juveniles appear in court for alleged role in RBMS bomb threat

Four juveniles from Douglas were in juvenile court in Sierra Vista earlier this month for their alleged involvement in the bomb threat at Ray Borane Middle School.

The four juveniles, two age 12 and two age 13, appeared before Judge Donna Beimer for their role that forced the evacuation of their school Feb. 16.

The parents of the four juveniles were ordered by the court to pay a total of $7,611.46 which, according to Nancy Galley of the Cochise County Attorney’s Office, is the amount that was determined by the agencies that responded to the incident.

All four were also placed on one-year probation.

Two of the juveniles were initially arrested and several days later Douglas Police Detectives arrested two more.

One juvenile was charged with hoax – interference with/or disruption of an educational instruction-harassment-disorderly conduct-false reporting (bomb) and criminal nuisance while the second juvenile was charged with hoax – interference with/or disruption of an educational instruction-false reporting to law enforcement disorderly conduct and harassment using telephone.

DUSD Superintendent Sheila Rogers said she cannot comment as to what the juveniles status currently is within the district.

“The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act prohibits us from revealing what discipline may or may not have been imposed on students,” she said. “It would be a violation of the students' rights to give this information.”
