The Ortega’s Lakers defeated the YAC Suns 12-11 last Wednesday winning the minors championship for the Douglas Youth Basketball League.
Armando Sanchez led the Suns in scoring with eight points. Aiden Rodriguez followed with three.
The loss for the Suns was their first after going 4-0 during the regular season.

The tournament began on Monday, July 23 with the Powerzone Gym Bulls beating the B&D Lumber Celtics 16-5.
Joseph Ramirez lede the Bulls with 10 points, Hector Moreno followed with four and Jayden Macario two.
For the Celtics, Hunter McLaughlin and Adrian Cantabrana each scored, Carlos Carranza had one.
On July 24 the Ortega's Lakers knocked off the Mi Ranchito Heat 18-12.
Luis Guzman scored 10 points for the Lakers, Chernouski and Romero each had four
For the Heat Eduardo Cisneros scored seven points, J.R. Zamora followed with five.
In the second game the Suns beat the Bulls 18-12.
Sanchez led the Suns with 10 points, Aiden Rodriguez and Marc Rodriguez each had four.
For the Bulls Joseph Ramirez scored 10 points. Serena Garcia had two.
In majors play On July 23 the David’s Plumbing Thunder beat the KDAP Celtics 33-8.
Alonzo Tapia scored 17 points for the Thunder. Jose Ortiz and Paige Mariscal each followed with six and Aaron Arias four.
For the Celtics Arnold Burquez and Andrea Mora each scored three, Marco Buelna chipped in two.
In the other game that night the Shooters Lakers beat the Backdrop Photo Bulls 35-19.
Eric Anguiano scored 22 points this game, Alan Anguiano had five; Alan Cruz, Julian Tanabe, Jonathan Nieves and Adrian Ruiz each had two.
For the Bulls John Moore led the team in scoring with seven points, Ryan Arzac six, Ramon Gonzales four, Lauren Paun two and Manuel Terrazas one.
On July 25 th3 Bulls fell 30-26 to the Krazy Dawgz Nets.
Jude Romero led the Nets in scoring with 16 points. Jose Ballesteros had eight, Mike Ballesteros three, Alex Vera-Galaz two and Ray Aguirre one.
For the Bulls Gonzales scored 10 points, Moore nine, Arzac three and Paun and Terrazas each had two.
In the late game Wednesday the Lakers edged the Thunder 24-23.
Eric Anguiano scored 11 points for the Lakers. Ruiz had seven, Caitlin Acosta, Alan Anguiano and Julian Encinas each scored two.
For the Thunder Ortiz scored 11, Tapia seven, Arias three and Mariscal two.
On Thursday the Nets defeated the Celtics 34-23.
Ballesteros scored 14 points for the Nets, Romero seven, Aguirre and Vera-Galaz four, Frank Ballesteros three and Moyra Fragoso two.
For the Celtics Oscar Sodari had 10, Burquez eight, Aldo Alonso and Mora each had two and Jose Medina one.
The majors single elimination tournament began this past Monday with the Bulls taking on the Celtics. That winner faced the Lakers on Tuesday while the Thunder and the Nets played in the other game.
The championship game is tonight at 7 p.m. in the Huber Gym.
