According to Lisa Cummings, acting CEO of Copper Queen Hospital, “the phasing has changed, we have combined Phase II and Phase III and anticipate the work will be completed within the next two months.”
“We have redone the entire area adding six exam rooms and two storage rooms,” said Clinic Manager Margaret Morales.
Phase II will be adding a total of five exam rooms to the south side of the building. Phase III is to turn the physical therapy room into three exam rooms and two additional storage rooms. Physical therapy will be moved to the location next to the clinic.
CQMC will be adding two new physicians to their staff. Dr. Karam Makni, a family practice physician will be joining the clinic in August. Dr. Rachel Martin-Camp, a pediatrician will also be going the Douglas clinic in August.
With the expansion we are able to recruit the two new physicians, said Morales.
Their physical therapy area has been expanded, “the current location is very small, and there is not enough room,” she said.
Currently the clinic sees and estimated eight to ten people a day for physical therapy. “There isn’t enough room in the current location for them to do their exercise,” stated Morales.
Morales, who has been with CQMC for three years, says they have been fortune enough to attractive more physicians to practice at the Douglas Clinic.
“The Douglas clinic sees about 1500 patients a month,” she said. We have the need for more physicians and space.
Morales added that once both Dr. Martin-Camp and Dr. Makni, they will be fully staffed.
“I feel very good about the clinic we have a very good staff and good doctors, we keep really busy,” she said.
CQMC currently has three doctors, Dr. Panayiotis Ellinas, General Practitioner, Dr. Jose Romo, General Surgery, Dr. Heidi Lodge, Board Certified Internal Medicine and Nurse Practitioner.
