“I’m feeling ok, I’m not having any draw backs from what I’m going through and hopefully it stays that way,” Rose said.
There were over 25 volunteers helping out on the day of the event cooking, bagging hamburgers and taking orders.
“This is all overwhelming we never thought the community would come together like this to help,” said Gloria Skinner, friend and co-worker.
The Douglas Unified School District maintenance department, Rose’s co-workers, were on hand cooking hamburgers all day.
“I feel really honored that all of these people are out here to support me, to help me during these difficult times,” added Rose.
A substantial amount of money was raised Saturday by the Douglas community. All the proceeds will go towards helping Rose with his medical bills.
“I would like to thank the whole Douglas community for helping me out, it will really help me out financially wise,” he said.
Anyone wanting to make a contribution may call Skinner at the DUSD Maintenance Office at 364-2447 ext 7252.
