Congressman Ron Barber was in Douglas Aug. 13 to tour the border, along with the Douglas Border Patrol station. During his visit he spoke with many Border Patrol personnel on the issues and problems that Douglas border is experiencing and how he may help elevate these issues.

From the perspective of ranchers and people who live and work on the border they still feel that they are not safe on their land, he said.
As a member of homeland security committee Barber will advocate for more resources for the Border Patrol throughout the border.
Barber has worked on bringing more agents to the border. He has fought for border security policies that enforce the border at the border. He feels border patrol resource should be increased and repositioned until a drug runner can’t cross the border without being spotted and deterred or apprehended by a Border Patrol agent.
“My responsibility as a member of congress and working with Border Patrol we are doing everything that we can to increase their safety and security,” he said.
Barber while in Douglas toured the fence along the U.S./Mexican border. He continues to be an advocate for smart fencing that actually present incursions and keeps agents safe, vehicle barriers and technology solutions that work at the ground level.
“I continue to do what I did when I was congresswomen Giffords district director I know the people down here very well. I’ve worked with the community, with the law enforcement, I worked with ranchers for the last almost six years, I do really know the issues, I was here four days after Robert Krentz was killed, I do understand the intense feeling and emotions of the loss of one of their neighbors,” Barber said. “For me it is very personal to stand up for the people who live along the border. As a member of the homeland security committee I am going to do everything I can to advocate for more mobile security systems, more technology, more personnel, more towers, more of everything so we can in fact gain grader operational control of the border.”

How many terrorists have crossed the borders, drug cartels, and illegals over the past 10 years?
Why should my tax dollars be going into a phony agency that isn't even securing the country from these types of threats? "
