Marijuana found in abandoned apartment By Trisha MaldonadoDouglas Dispatch Douglas Police Officers seized roughly 91.45 pounds of marijuana on Saturday, August 26 with an estimated street value of more than $45,000. According to Sgt. Jose Duarte, Public Information Officer for the Douglas Police Department, during the inspection of an abandoned apartment at the 700 block of 14th Street, at approximately 8 p.m., officers located several packages; that were later confirmed to contain marijuana. “Officers normally conduct checks of abandoned houses, we tend to find broken windows, doors and other property and sometimes they find illegal immigrants or illegal drugs,” Duarte said. Authorities secured the residence and seized the contraband. No one has been arrested at this time. According to Duarte, DPD Detectives are continuing their investigation in an attempt to locate the person involved in this narcotic trafficking.
