Honoring the flag

Dear Editor:

Several days ago when I went out to pick up my morning paper, I observed a man and woman walking in the street in front of my house.

I watched as they stopped, he removed his cap and standing at attention, saluted the flag that flies every day from my tall flag-pole. I watched as he remained at attention for several minutes, then he replaced his cap and resumed his walk.

Many of us have seem to forgotten our flag etiquette and to see it displayed so properly gave me a chill.

I don’t have the gentleman’s name, but I thank him for his display of how we should honor our flag.

Sincerely

Elizabeth Ames

Douglas
