At one time or another in our lives we have all experienced bullying, either directly or indirectly. It used to happen on school yards but now it seems to happen on every social media we use.

Let me give you the definition of bullying.

Bullying is a repeated negative behavior towards a less powerful person or persons. Hitting, name calling, shunning, and shaming are all forms of bullying. Spreading rumors, gossiping and making threats are also forms of bullying.

Here’s the thing, the person being bullied does not necessarily have to be a powerless person. It can be someone that’s a public figure; a coach, the mayor or a league president.

Everyone has the right to their opinions, but we need to stop and think of how our opinions and words may affect someone.

Every article I have read online refers to children bullying, but what about when adults do it? How do we address this issue?

Many of us use social media’s such as Facebook, blogs, and twitter to voice our opinions and much more.

There are times when people post things anonymously. The way I see it if you are going to post something negative or positive own up to it.

If you are not willing to sign your name to it then don’t post, write or say it. We need to take responsibility for our actions not hide behind anonymity.

We all are adults. We should by now know right from wrong, that there are consequences to our actions… words hurt people.

We all have different opinions. We all may feel differently about an issue or problem. We all, as humans, see life differently; therefore we express ourselves in such a way.

We all have our own way of doing our jobs, and living our lives. Last time I checked this was our right. It does not mean we are opening ourselves for attacks. We are just trying to do the best we can with what we have and we should allow those around us to do the same.

President Theodore Roosevelt once said, "....the man who really counts in the world is the doer, not the mere critic--the man who does the work, even if roughly and imperfectly, not the man who talks and writes about how it ought to be done."

As the old saying goes, if you do not have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all, but if you absolutely have to at least sign your name to it.
