The Douglas Chargers football schedule was released last week by local president Ken Nelson.

The Chargers are fielding four separate teams this year: flag, mighty mite, peewee and midget.

Two of the four teams will play an eight game schedule while the peewee and midget divisions will play seven games.

All four teams kick off their season Sept. 8 with a road game at Benson. The flag will play at 9 a.m.; mighty mite 10:30 a.m.; peewee 12:30 p.m. and midget at 2:30 p.m.

The home opener will be the following week, Sept. 15 when Douglas hosts Santa Cruz which consists of kids from the Nogales area.

All of the Chargers teams will be in action that day with games starting at the same time as they did in Benson.

The Chargers four divisions will also have home games Sept. 29 and Oct. 20.

The four Charger squads will play their season finale Oct. 27 against teams from Sierra Vista.

The Southern Arizona Cheerleading Competition will take place Nov. 3 at Fort Huachuca.

Nelson said 175 boys and girls are either playing football or are cheering for the Chargers this year.
