Chargers battle Bisbee By Bruce WhettenDouglas Dispatch The Douglas Chargers were on the road this past weekend playing games in both Bisbee and Sierra Vista. The flag Chargers fell to the Miners 52-36 in a shootout. Juan Munoz had 328 yards rushing and five touchdowns in the loss. Emiliano Berthely had 70 yards rushing and a TD; Vicente Cardona and Berthely each had three tackles while Hugo Castillo, Lucas Castillo, Kenny Nelson and Tyler McLaughlin each had two tackles. The mighty mite Chargers were in Sierra Vista taking on the Raiders. Douglas lost that game 35-0. No stats were available. In peewee play Douglas beat Bisbee 34-6. Alan Anguiano had a nine yard rushing and 30 yard rushing TD plus an interception and four tackles; Jacob Del Rio recovered a fumble in the end zone for a defensive TD and had eight tackles. Markos Castillo intercepted a pass and returned it for a TD; Anthony Floras ran QB keeper for a one yard TD; Christian Estrella had an interception and four tackles; David Grajeda had two rushing point after conversions, six tackles and a quarterback sack; Aaron Quijada had a punt block and fumble recovery; Samuel Ramos had three tackles and two quarterback sacks; Dominick Amarrillas had four tackles and quarterback sack; Adrian Ruiz two tackles and two quarterback sacks and Adam Hernandez had three tackles and a sack. The Charger midgets won for the first time this year beating Bisbee 30-12. Anthony Vasquez had a fumble recovery and nine tackles; Daniel Escarcega had a forced fumble and three tackles; Samuel Valenzuela had a fumble recovery and six tackles; Sergio Molina had touchdown runs of 12 and 10 yards; three tackles and a sack. Eric Anguiano had a forced fumble, a 50 yard completion from Sergio Molina and 15 tackles; Miguel Vasquez had a fumble recovery, point after rushing attempt and two tackles; Adrian Dominguez had an interception and a tackle; Jude Romero had six tackles and Miguel Luna had two four yard rushing touchdowns, a successful point after rush and seven tackles. On Sept. 15 the Chargers hosted the Santa Cruz County Storm Sept. 15 with four games at Armando DeLucas Stadium. The flag Chargers were the only team to win Saturday beating their guests from Nogales 46-26 improving to 1-1 on the season. Game highlights had Vicente Cardona rushing for 84 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Juan Munoz had 160 yards rushing yards and three touchdowns; Emiliano Berthely 48 yards rushing and a TD. He was also successful on three yard run point after attempt and had 20 yards passing and a TD. Hugo Castillo had 20 yards receiving and a TD. Jacob Ramirez had five tackles; Ruben Lucero three tackles and Hugo Castillo, Berthely and Lucas Castillo each had two tackles In the mighty mite game that followed Douglas was defeated 26-0 falling to 0-2. Diego Martinez had an interception in the game and Emeterio Hernandez had 10 tackles and fumble recovery. Adrian Vega had nine tackles; Adrian Garcia eight tackles D’Andre Acosta had two quarterback sacks and a pass deflection. Martin Villa had quarterback sack and a forced fumble. The Douglas Charger peewees fell 61-6 suffering their first loss of the season. Trey Rose connected with Ralph Hernandez for a 56 yard TD pass; David Grajeda and Dominick Amarillas each had four tackles; Alan Anguiano three tackles and Jacob Del Rio had a quarterback sack. The midget Chargers fell 42-14 falling to 0-2 on the season. Sergio Molina connected with Eric Anguiano on a 58 yard TD pass; Molina also had an 11 yard TD run and he connected with Eric Anguiano for a two point conversion. Miguel Vasquez caused and recovered a fumble; Anguiano had five tackles; Jude Romero and Miguel Luna each had three tackles and Mario Meza had a quarterback sack. All four Charger teams are back in action this Saturday hosting Willcox. Game times will be 9 and 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.
