Ramon Jordan passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday September 5 surrounded by his loving family.

Ramon was born in Pirtleville, Ariz. on August 31, 1920 to Jose Uriel and Candelaria Jordan. Ramon was the second of 12 children.
Ramon attended Farras Elementary School in Pirtleville, Ariz. and was very proud of his Pirtleville roots. He attended Douglas High School and participated in basketball and football. He was very fond of basketball. He graduated in 1941.
Ramon enlisted in the Navy in August of 1942. He served on the USS Marcasite serving in the South Pacific during WWII. He was discharged in October of 1945.
In 1938 he met the love of his life. Lupe Garcia star pitcher for the women’s local softball team the Jitterbugs who one day was pitching when Ramon happened to attend the game. He couldn’t keep his eyes off the mound and as he use to say “she threw him a curve that he couldn’t resist and he knew she was the one”. In October of 1943 they married and began their life together. (On October 25 this year they would have been celebrating 69 years of marriage).
Ramon started working for the Post Office in the early 1950’s. He retired as Postmaster of the Pirtleville Post Office. In 2004 he retired form the Post Office to begin his 20 years of service as a City Councilman for Ward 3. He served the city of Douglas with honor and integrity.
Ramon gave his best to his country by being a loving husband, wonderful father and a true community leader. He believed in giving back and did so whether it was volunteering to be a coach for little league, services to his church, PTA, veteran functions, or just a neighbor in need he did not refuse to help.
Ramon is survived by his wife, Lupe (his love of his life), his sons Lon and Don and daughters Ginny and Wendy. He also is survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Uriel and Candelaria, brothers Robert, Raul, Luis, and Frank. He is survived by his brothers Albert (Maude), Bill (Dolores) and sisters Carmen (Cesar) Duran, Rita (Frank) Vigil, Mary (Charlie) Salcido, Helen (Jack) Schiemmer, and Lillian (Mike) Brunofski.
Viewing will be held at the Brown and Page Mortuary on Sunday from 4 – 6 p.m.
On Monday a rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Douglas followed by mass at 11 a.m. Graveside services will follow immediately with military honors provided by the American Legion honor guard. A reception will be held at the Douglas Country Club.
