On Sept 12 Douglas resident Martha G. LaMadrid, 18, was apprehended by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), in Tucson.

LaMadrid allegedly had 160 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $80,000, in her vehicle.

She was booked into the Pima County Jail and was released on Sept. 13, awaiting court appearance.

LaMadrid’s older brother, Carlos LaMadrid, was allegedly shot three times in the back by a Douglas Border Patrol, Lucas Tidwell, on March 21, 2011. The case is still pending litigation.

At the time LaMadrid was shot, he was allegedly carrying 48.2 pounds of marijuana in his pickup.

Currently Martha Guerrero, Martha and Carlos LaMadrid’s mother, is suing the federal government and Agent Lucas, sighting exemplary damages for violations of her son's civil rights.

DEA Public Information Officer, Ramona Sanchez said “no further information on Martha LaMadrid’s arrest is available at this time due to pending investigation.”
