Huber Middle School holds NJHS ceremony

Huber Middle School held its National Junior Honor Society ceremony on Sept.11 in the Huber Middle School gym with over 75 family members in attendance.

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings and 1929.

NJHS President Gaby Ramirez; Vice President, Kristina Cota; Secretary, Marilyn Aceves; Treasure, Crystal Munoz and Sibonay Cox, historian gave speeches on the character, service, leadership, and scholarship of the member of the NJHS.

Mrs. Cindy Gage led the NJHS pledge as 40 Huber eighth grade students were presented as new members.

“Huber Middle School has a history of National Junior Honor Society and we continue with that history,” Huber Principal Andrea Overman said. “It’s because of you, the parents, that your kids are here today receiving this great honor.”

In late May or early June the members of the NJHS will take a trip to Washington D.C. through WorldStrides.

WorldStrides is the largest and most trusted student travel organization in the nation. The Huber Middle School students will have the opportunity to visit The White House, The Washington Monument, and Arlington Nation Cemetery along with many other interesting places during their trip.

“This trip is not school funded, the students will have to come up with their own funds,” Gage said.
