Peter Rainsford “George” Brady passed into the loving arms of Christ on October 7, 2012.

He was born in Bisbee, Arizona in 1926 and was the grandson of Arizona Pioneer Peter Rainsford Brady, a member of the Survey Commission for the Gadsden Purchase and for many years a senator in the Arizona Territorial Legislature. Upon graduation from Douglas High, George served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a mechanic, crew chief, and aerial engineer on Okinawa. He returned home to work for the Phelps Dodge Mercantile, the Douglas Water and Sewer Dept, and the Phelps Dodge Smelter where he was a supervisor of the Mill. A member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks for 40 years, he was also the Exalted Ruler of the BPOE in 1957. After retirement he moved to Green Valley where he spent many happy years making beautiful jewelry for his loved ones. The soul of integrity as well as a good-humored and caring man who loved God above all and frequently attended daily Mass, he was gracious and generous to everyone.

Married for 63 years to the light of his life, Margaret "Peggy" Sherman, with whom he was inseparable and their devotion to each other was an inspiration to all who knew them. He was loving father to Margaret (Mark, dec.), Peter Michael (Ann), John (Karen), Steven (Linda), and Mary Pat (Kate). As a young husband and father he cheerfully took in and helped raise his wife’s youngest siblings, Jim (Lu), Barbara (Don), and Kathleen (Don) when their own mother passed away suddenly. He was an affectionate and teasing grandfather to Aimee, Dan, Jeff, Jacob, Kevin, Peter, Caitlin, Brendan, Henry, Carmen, Lee, James, Ana Luisa, Rosa, and Rafael and great grandfather to Gavin, Hudson, and Zofia. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Carmen Brady, his brother Thomas, and sister Marie.
