A report released Monday by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office has officially ruled the death of former Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever as accidental.

According to the report the sheriff was traveling at an estimated 62 mph when he lost control of his truck and rolled it once. The report also mentions that Dever was not wearing his seatbelt.

Dever was on his way to meet with family members for a camping and hunting trip at White Horse Lake Sept. 18 when his truck rolled.

The U.S. Forest Service road Dever was on at the time of the accident has no speed limit and motorists are advised to drive at a speed that’s reasonable and prudent when traveling on the dirt road.

The medical examiner’s office says Dever’s death was accidental and caused by multiple injuries.
