DHS swim teams host Buena in home finale

The Douglas High School swim team hosted the Buena Colts Sept. 20 in what was Douglas’ final home swim meet of the season.

The Bulldog swimmers beat Buena 88-83 while the Lady Bulldogs fell 119-60.

In the boys meet Tristen Luna and Saul Salinas finished second and fourth respectively in the 200 freestyle event posting times of 2:27.81 and 2:54.50.

Luna won the 100 breaststroke event with a time of 1:15.80 while Kain Luna was second with a 1:24.15 and Herrera third with a 1:25.44.

In the 200 individual medley Quentin Herrera came in second with a time of 2:58.52 while Israel Andrade was fourth with a time of 3:16.23.

In the 50 freestyle Gabriel Aguilar finished second with a time of 25.31; Martin Dominguez was third with a 25.89 and Kain Luna finished fourth with a 27.90.

Dominguez won the 100 butterfly finishing with a time of 59.12.

In the 100 freestyle Aguilar was the overall winner posting a time of 59.12 seconds; Patrick Ramacho was third with a 1:12.32 and Juan Carlos Martinez finished fifth with a 1:21.94.

Rogelio Martinez finished second in the 500 freestyle posting a time of 7:03.37. He was also second in the 100 backstroke finishing with a time of 1:16.39 while Jose Moreno finished fourth and Juan Carlos Martinez fifth with times of 1:49.47 and 1:55.37.

In the relay’s Douglas’ A team of Aguilar, Tristen Luna, Dominguez and Herrera came in first with a time of 2:01.37. The B team of Martinez, Andrade, Kain Luna and Salinas placed third with a time of 2:15.75.

In the 200 freestyle relay Douglas’ A team of Kain Luna, Andrade, Salinas and Herrera placed second with a time of 1:52.23 while the B team of Tristen Luna, Juan Carlos Martinez, Moreno and Ramacho placed third with a time of 2:11.04.

Douglas’ 400 freestyle relay team of Dominguez, Kain Luna, Andrade and Aguilar came in first with a time of 4:10.21.

In the girls meet, Giovanna Gonzalez placed second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:58.12; Ariana Sanchez was fourth with a 3:11.22 and Aglae Morales sixth with a 3:28.94.

Harley Villalobos and Victoria Grijalva placed third and fourth respectively in the 200 individual medley recording times of 2:58.07 and 2:59.60.

Grijalva finished second in the 100 butterfly finishing with a time of 1:19.80.

In the 500 freestyle Ana Francia Morales and Frances Young were third and fourth with times of 7:44.35 and 7:44.72.

In the 50 freestyle Carolyne Miller came in first with a time of 27.14 seconds Victoria Morales was third with a 29.27 and Maria Palacios sixth with a time of 35.12.

Miller also won the 100 freestyle finishing with a 1:02.38 while Palacios was fifth with a 1:22.47.

In the 100 backstroke Zenaida Parra finished third with a time of 1:18.60 and Gonzalez was sixth with a time of 1:47.25.

Young finished third in the 100 breaststroke finishing with a time of 1:28.41. Sanchez was fifth with a 1:34 and Morales sixth with a 1:34.91.

In the relay event Douglas’ A team of Parra, Young, Miller and Morales came in first in the 200 medley finishing with a time of 2:10.70. The B team of Morales, Villalobos, Grijalva and Sanchez finished fourth with a time of 2:27.15.

In the 200 freestyle relay Douglas’ A team of Gonzalez, Briana Salcido, Palacios and Morales came in third with a time of 2:11.24 while the B team of Sanchez, Alexa Manasco, Lucy Ortiz and Sara Altamirano was fourth.

Douglas’ 400 freestyle relay team of Morales, Grijalva, Villalobos and Miller came in second with a time of 4:27.65.

The DHS swimmers are off this week and return to action Oct. 4 when they are at Sahuarita.
