The Douglas Bulldog golf team had two road matches last week.

The Bulldogs beat Santa Rita in a dual match and placed second in a triangular match with Ironwood Ridge and Marana.

On Thursday, Sept. 13, the Bulldogs were in Tucson taking on the Santa Rita Eagles in a dual match. Douglas won the match 165-238.

The highlight of the match came when Bulldog golfer Adrian Vildosola hit a hole in one on the fifth hole which is a par 3, 120 yard shot, Bulldog golf coach Bosco Selchow said. Vildosola finished the day with a score of 46.

Andres Rico and Martin Valenzuela each shot scores of 40 to lead the Bulldogs. Eric Valenzuela followed with a 41 and Jake Salmon shot a 44.

Earlier in the week the Bulldogs were in Marana taking on Ironwood Ridge and Marana in a triangular match at The Pines Golf Club in Marana.

The match had originally been scheduled for Sept. 6 but was rained out. Douglas returned Sept. 11 to play the match.

Ironwood Ridge won the match shooting a 146. Douglas was second with a 175 and Marana third with a 198.

Vildosola led Douglas this match with a team low of 43. Robbie Romero followed with a score of 44. Martin and Eric Valenzuela each shot scores of 46 and Salmon closed out with a score of 47.

Coach Selchow said the 165 his team shot against Santa Rita was a state qualifying score. Now, the coach said, the Bulldogs need just four more state qualifying scores in order to qualify for state.
