The Apaches took the opening kickoff and marched straight at the Bulldog defense behind the running of senior Brian McCarty, who eventually scored from nine yards out giving the Apaches a quick 6-0 lead after missing the extra point.
The Apaches would score on their second possession of the game as well on a 12-yard TD pass taking a 13-0 lead.
The Bulldogs took the ensuing drive and starting at their own 35, drove down to the Apache 24 before turning the ball over on downs.
The Apaches needed just one play to find a hole in the Bulldog defense completing a 76-yard TD pass giving Nogales a 20-0 lead, still in the first quarter.
Douglas’ next drive began at its down 19 and this time the Dogs did convert the drive into points as quarterback Blaze Rose hit Fernando Rojas for a three yard TD pass with 2.7 seconds left in the opening quarter. Rose missed the extra point as Nogales led 20-6.
The Apaches made a rare mistake on its next possession early in the second quarter fumbling the ball over to Douglas where Hector Vasquez scooped it up and rambled into the end zone for touchdown. Rose’s extra point would again be no good but the Bulldogs had clawed back to way into the game pulling within eight.
In the next 10 minutes of the half the Apaches would score 17 straight points increasing what had been an eight point lead into a 37-12 lead at the half.
Nogales would score two more times in the third quarter and once in the fourth handing Douglas its worst loss of the season.
