" Why so many haters? Mr. Tartaglia is a person with a wonderful wife, kids and many many friends that know he is a hard worker, loves our community, the people in it and is making a difference. "

" Both Misinformed and Response to Misinformed are slightly off. The DUSD Curriculum Department is a problem, but not because they are moving the schools toward Common Core standards, they are a problem because of their leader and the top leadership in the DUSD administration. I wish the new board members luck in their positions and urge them to investigate beyond what they are told by the DUSD leadership. Things are said that seem to push DUSD forward and then decisions are made that prevent the school administration, teachers and staff from doing what is necessary for DUSD students to move up and on with their lives. "

Response to Misinformed wrote on Nov 9, 2012 11:37 PM:

    " Dear Misinformed,
What the Curriculum Dept. is doing is trying to provide the students with an excellent and progressive education. You may not like what they are doing, and it is probably because what YOU are doing is not enough by state and national standards. Do you stay current on educational trends and instruction? The US and AZ are moving forward and Douglas will be left behind if things and teaching stays the same. Einstein said it best, "Doing the something the same way over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity." Torture or higher expectations? You really are misinformed. "

" Change is good, it allows people and organizations to grow. Mr. Ramos was nice and he took his role seriously and he will be missed. I hope Mr. Sabal will dedicate himself to the challenge and learn about the new mandates that require our district to move forward and change. All board members should question the superintendent and expect accountability in ALL areas. It is what the board is supposed to do. "

" to "hopeful, farely and important"

I am ashamed for you, and to have people think that you represent our community by you negative comments. All the bashing you have done on Mr Tartaglia, Do you really know him? Have you ever had a sit down conversation with him? He is truely a go getter, he cares about his community, he is 100 percent dedicated to his profession. He is extremely involved in the community. He was a teacher and coach for many years. He taught Us students and athletes many things about life in general. And one important thing he taught me and you all need the same lesson is "Respect" If you all have personal issues with him. Call him and work them out. Ive known him for over 15 years and I can say He is firm but fair. And if you cant handle that. Then You all have a problem. in closing we missed out on a good board member who really cares. I know I seen and experienced it. "

Hopeful wrote on Nov 8, 2012 6:17 PM:

" Do hope the new Board will work together. I do think Mr. Ramos was a man of the people and had pretty much all the challenges like the common man here . I always saw him at our schools asking how it was going. He attended our assembly at Clawson and we appreciated it. Never saw the other Board members. He will be missed. I am very glad Tartaglia didn't make it. He is a divider and would use the mayor his brother in law to get his way. He likes to be intimidating to people using his badge. No thanks he is not school board material. But he'll probably try some other top position in the city and try to gain importance. "

" Congrats to the new board members. I hope these new members do a well job. When the budget cut was done back in May 2010 the administration is not complying in the agreement in what was agreed at the meeting on June 2, 2010. There's discrimination. So Good luck to the new board members. "

" There was no bond election in Douglas but there was in Bisbee and obviously THEY care about their kids more than Douglas did. 204 wouldn't have broken anybody but would have made a huge difference to education. As for Ortega, forget it he is so full of himself that he will make decisions based on his future agenda. Just ask the County what they think of him. Foolish people to elect someone who think he cares about teachers or kids. And yes I am a teacher and my peers know exactly what I am talking about. He didn't get our vote but we will organize and do something about it if he continues to hammer teachers! And for the record the only change we need is the CURRICULUM Department! Enriquez has created a monster and the administration needs to address it. If teachers leave it will be because this department has tormented so many people! "

" Wow, does this FARLEY have nothing better to do than criticize everyone and everything in Douglas? This "Farley" seems to know everything about everyone in town from the mayor down to our student athletes and only sees the bad in them all. Maybe your mother should have hugged you more Mr./Ms. Farley! Sad to say but it's people like you who keep our world in the sorry state its in. "

" Congrats to the winners. The people have spoken along with 204 failing and the bond election failing I hope the administration gets the message. Mr. Ortega needs to be heard by the administration. We need changes at the district. "

Farley wrote on Nov 7, 2012 9:18 AM:

" Thank goodness Louie Tartaglia was not selected, it would be like having Mayor Ortega in there again. I truly believe Mr. Sabal will make a difference on this board. "
