Chargers fall to Sierra Vista

The Douglas Charger flag and mighty mite teams were in action this past Saturday.


The flag Chargers fell 30-14 falling to 2-4 on the season while the mighty mite Chargers were shutout 32-0 falling to 0-6 on the season. Stats for both games were not available.

The peewee and midget teams had a bye week.

On Oct. 6 the flag Chargers fell to the Sierra Vista Cardinals 47-19. Juan Munoz had three 50 yard TD runs in the game while Hugo Castillo had a three yard point after conversion and a tackle. Jacob Ramirez had four tackles in the game while Emiliano Berthely had three tackles and Vicente Cardona two tackles. Damian Monge, Deigo Ybarra and Kenny Nelson each had one tackle.

The Charger mighty mites were defeated 54-12. Adrian Garcia had a 65 yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a tackle; Martin Villa had a 65 yard run from scrimmage for a touchdown; Emeterio Hernandez had six tackles, Raul Chavez four tackles; Tanner Malusky had three tackles and Kevin Ybarra and Joseph Ramirez each had two tackles.

In peewee play the Chargers fell to the Cardinals 48-12. David Grajeda had a 11 yard TD run and four tackles; Alan Anguiano had a three yard TD run and two tackles; Samuel Ramos had a fumble recovery and three tackles; Andres Moreno two tackles and Jacob Del Rio, Dominick Amarillas, Adam Hernandez, Adrian Ruiz, Christian Estrella and Aaron Montano each had one tackle.

The Douglas Charger midget team posted a 34-0 win improving to 2-3 on the season. Miguel Luna had a 75 yard rushing TD, a three yard rushing point after conversion and six tackles; Sergio Molina had an 87 yard QB keeper for a TD and another from eight yards for a TD. He connected with Eric Anguiano on an 82 yard TD pass. He was on the receiving end of a 80 yard pass for a TD from Andres Robles and ended the day with three tackles. Robles along with his 80 yard connect with Molina also found Easton Rose for a three yard pass point after conversion and ended day with eight tackles. Rose along with his three yard connect from Robles had a 3 yard rushing point after conversion a tackle and a fumble recovery. Anthony Vasquez had eight tackles; Eric Anguiano and Karsen Estelle each had six tackles; Miguel Vasquez had five tackles; Daniel Escarcega two tackles and Jesus Sosa, Pablo Bello, Christopher Galaz and Jorge Reyes each had a tackle.

The Chargers have just games left in their season both of which are at home. All four teams play this Saturday with the flag playing at 9 a.m.; the mighty mite at 10:30 the peewee at 12:30 and the midgets at 2:30 p.m.
