The 2009 back to school concert, held at The Douglas Public Library, helped to raise the student's enthusiasm for the new school year. The event was sponsored by Douglas for Stronger Families along with the library and the CIty of Douglas. The rockin’ began at six with free sessions of “Guitar Hero” and “Rock Band.” At 7 p.m., the amps were turned on for five local bands. They included Revelations, Burning Embrace, Alive Untitled, Black Horizon and N.U.M. At 9 p.m., the show finished with a public showing of “Rock and Roll High School” starring the Ramones.

" ha i wish the house shows and every other show were around more. and Erich is right. we always get shut down by a lot of citizens of Douglas. i had asked for a permit for the bands to play at a farewell party my parents threw me and Douglas council simply said no. but the local bands there are really worth the while they are great kids and i love them a lot i just wish i had brought their music with me down here in plain old Texas(: "

    " Terri,

Where are you moving from? "

" I'm going to be moving to douglas in January and I loved what I saw. The local music here is pretty much dead or there is only a show once a season. Where could I go to see more of this? Do any of the VFW or UAW halls allow the music to be played there for a small renters fee Please let me know, so I know if I can have some enjoyment when I make the move "

" The thing that worries me is the loud, annoying noise that these "rock shows" put on the community. If the volume were kept down a little bit, there wouldn't be any problems. "

" I'm a local band member. We try to have shows monthly but we are always being shut-down by the police and people complaining about the noise. On top of that, the City of Douglas won't give us permits. Therefore, we can't have these shows. Our main goal is mainly to get kids off the streets and providing them with some fun entertainment. "

" I believe this is the type of events that boost our teens moral and make it fun for them on the weekends. I was very enthused to find out that the City of Douglas and the local library supported and participated in this fun time for our teens. Our city should promote more events for our youth and maybe keep them safe and out of trouble. "
