Trunk or Treat attracts over 2,500 children By Trisha MaldonadoDouglas Dispatch An estimated 2,500 children attended the trunk or treat event held by the City of Douglas and co-sponsored by the Douglas Dispatch on Oct. 31 at the Copper King Baseball Stadium. There were 23 booths set up by various organizations from Douglas who participated in the event. The event that started at 4 p.m. and ended after 7 p.m.; was a huge success and was well attended and organized. The city provided a DJ for entertainment and Douglas Unified School District had haunted bus for those brave enough to enter it. “I would like to thank all the organizations who participated in making this community event successful” Jennifer Smith, Aquatic and Recreation Centers coordinator said. “We had a wonderful turn out with close to 2,500 kids.” Trunks that participated in the event were: City of Douglas, Wal-Mart, CIA, Coqui Children's Center, Ortega's Inc., University of Arizona South, Cochise College, Douglas Unified School District, Pinal Hispanic Council, Southwest Gas, Kandies Restaurant, La Solano, Faith Ministries, A+ Tutoring, South Eastern Arizona Medical Center, Romantic Realities, Cochise County Youth Coalition, Douglas For Stronger Families, and Corazon Integrated Health Care. Prize donations were given by the following organizations: Wal-Mart, McDonald's, Cox Communication, APS, Wells Fargo, Bank of America and the Douglas Dispatch. |
