CBP officers intercept 262 pounds of marijuana

A Douglas woman was arrested Sunday, Nov.25 for attempting to smuggle more than $131,000 worth of marijuana through the Douglas Port of Entry.

According to information provided to the Douglas Dispatch, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer referred Dora Arias, 20, for additional inspection of her Mercury sedan after a narcotic detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs.

Officers then conducted a thorough inspection and found 199 packages of marijuana throughout the vehicle. The drugs, weighing more than 262 pounds, and vehicle were processed for seizure.

Arias was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
