Cochise College's Sierra Vista Campus will hold its World AIDS Day events from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the Student Union.
Students and the public are invited to campus for free information about HIV and AIDS, limited free testing, a red ribbon memorial, a "Facing AIDS" activity and photo display, and more.
The event is sponsored by the Sierra Vista Student Government Association, Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation and the Southeastern AZ HIV/AIDS Consortium. For more information, email svstudentgov@cochise.edu.
The Douglas Campus World AIDS Day event is set for Monday, Dec. 3. It will be the fifth year the campus has offered World AIDS Day activities.
At 10:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. in the Little Theatre building, students and the public are invited to attend "HIV 101," presented by the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation. The interactive training teaches participants about HIV infection, transmission, prevention and testing, as well as the lifecycle of HIV and the immune systems, and much more. The goal of the training is to give participants a basic understanding of HIV and help them speak with family and friends about the virus.
The Douglas Campus event will also have activities and information available throughout the day. For more information, email connersm@cochise.edu or garcial363@students.cochise.edu.
Anyone needing an accommodation in order to attend should contact the Cochise College Disability Services Office at (520) 515-5337 or (520) 417-4023 at least 72 hours in advance.
