Cecy Valencia, the social service and activities director at La Solana, estimated 125 people were fed. The meal consisted of the traditional turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, broccoli and carrots, rolls and for desert they were served either pumpkin or cherry pie.

According to Valencia this is the 15th year La Solana has done this.

“We do this so families will have the opportunity to spend time with their loved ones” she said. “Seeing something like this gives me a good feeling there is something to give thanks about.”

Valencia said there will be a Christmas party at La Solana Dec. 21. Santa Claus will visit and Valencia encourages all families of residents at the facility to attend that event.

On Thanksgiving Day many of the residents at La Solana were also visited by their individual families many of which brought meals for their loved ones staying at the facility.
