Thanks to those who have helped Dear Editor: Other than the summer heat, which I will always have trouble adapting to, I am very pleased to be living here in Douglas. Two years back, I visited regularly to swim laps at the Douglas High School Aquatic Complex but actually spent very little time here. I certainly didn’t anticipate this move but feel it is truly one of the better decisions I have made. I can’t believe I‘ve been here since the end of July. I would to thank the town and many residents here for making me feel so welcome. Actually, I have been meaning to write this letter for some time. There are two social service agencies and one individual I would particularly like to acknowledge. The first is Catholic Community Services’ free bus rides offered to handicapped riders, which was particularly helpful when I first moved here and didn’t know my way around town. The second is DARC’s Meals on Wheels program, which has been a godsend on my tight budget. The third is Mini Guerrero who brought by many care packages from Douglas Food Bank. Thanks so much.
