New board members to be sworn in Jan. 8 By Bruce WhettenDouglas Dispatch Natalio Sabal, Douglas’ newly elected school board member and incumbents Mike Ortega and Susan Kramer will all be sworn into their school board seats at the Jan. 8 meeting which will start at 5:30 p.m. in the board room of the administration building on 12th Street. In addition to the board members being sworn in a new board president will be elected and there will be some discussion regarding the meeting dates and times and the posting of those dates and times. Other items on the agenda that night also include the hiring of several teachers, substitutes, volunteers and evaluators as well as several resignations and retirements. Several donations are also expected to be approved. There will be some discussion regarding a proposed intergovernmental agreement between the DUSD and the city of Douglas to provide community after school youth recreational activities. Two executive sessions are scheduled to discuss the release from contracts for teachers Alex S. Tira and Eliza Novoa-Gonzales. The meeting is open to the public. |
