Brush fire draws response from DFD

Crews from the Douglas Fire Department responded to a brush fire Tuesday, Jan. 22 in the 900 block alley way between 10th and 11th Streets. Upon arrival firefighters had blames burning up a utility pole as well as brush around it. The flames were extinguished in a matter of minutes which no major property damage being reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. On Friday around 10:45 p.m. DFD crews were called out to a utility pole fire on Fifth and H Ave. Douglas Fire Chief Mario Novoa said Saturday in no way are the two fires connected. Friday’s fire was on top of the pole indicating a possible transformer problem.
