With the state playoffs due to start Feb. 13 the Douglas Lady Bulldogs picked up two more wins last week improving their record to 18-4.

Against Benson the game was close early on. Douglas led 12-11 at the end of the first quarter and 26-23 at the half. The two teams were tied 30-30 in the third when the Lady Bulldogs went on a 17-6 win taking a 47-36 lead into the fourth.
In the final quarter the Lady Bulldogs padded their lead outscoring the Lady Bobcats 25-17.
Veronica Barraza led Douglas in scoring with 20 points, Aleen Nunez had 15, Nancy Rodriguez 13 and Karina Avechuco 10.
Douglas’ basketball coach Clint Hill said his girls came out a little sluggish but got going in the third.
Against Tombstone the Lady Yellowjackets led 5-0 minutes into the game when Douglas got going offensively going on a 17-4 run to take a 17-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs opened up the second quarter with an 8-0 run increasing its lead to 25-9 enroute to a 39-13 edge heading into the second half.
Barraza led Douglas in scoring with 14 points, Nunez and Avechuco each had 12.
The Lady Bulldogs, 18-4, hosted Buena on Tuesday and will host Rio Rico on Thursday and Cienega on Friday.
Friday will also be Mom and Dad’s night for the DHS seniors on the team.
