Ida Huizar Abrigo

Our precious Ida, 89, was called to heaven to be in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on January 25, 2013. Ida was born in Douglas to Felix and Manuela “Nellie” Novoa Huizar on December 29, 1923. When Ida was a young woman she met and married the love of her life, her soul mate, Edward “Sarge” Abrigo, Sr. Together they raised three children, Edward Abrigo, Jr., Edna Mather and Greg (Veronica) Abrigo. Ida was preceded in death by her husband Edward “Sarge”, her Mother, Father, Brother Theodore “Ted” Huizar and Brother in law, Ignacio “Nacho” Acuña. Besides her children, Ida leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Sean (Bev) Abrigo, Marco Abrigo, Teresa (Andre) Metzler, Corinne (Eric) Johnson, Raquel Abrigo, Gregory Paul Abrigo, Michael Edward Abrigo, as well as 11 great grandchildren all of whom Ida loved to “love on” and spoil. Also surviving is Ida’s Sister and best friend Juanita Acuña, Uncle Elijio (Eva) Valenzuela, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Arizona, California and Texas.

Ida was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, an active member of the VFW, she loved to read, cook and spoil her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Brown Page Mortuary Chapel with a Rosary for Ida being recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Church with inurnment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Luke’s Catholic Church.
