Sabor Latino Legacy whose members consist of Xavier Rios, Aaron Rios, Danny Gomez, Frankie Zamora, David Ryvui and AJ Lopez have been playing professionally together as a group for the past three years

Both Rios brothers, Gomez and Zamora have been playing together since 2009. Ryvui has been with the band for a year and Lopez for two.

“Our first real gig was November of 2010, we played at a baptism,” Rios said.

Sabor Latino is the first band from Douglas to play at the Texas Talent Musicians Fan Fair.

The Texas Talent Musicians Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote excellence in the Tejano Music Industry.

The Organization produces the annual Tejano Music Awards and the Fan Fair.

This will be the 33rd annual event which invites over 100 Tejano bands from all over the country to perform on five stages.

Sabor Latino performs Tejano, country and some soft rock music with Xavier Rios as their vocalist.

Xavier Rios has been playing since he was seven years old. Both Xavier and Aaron were taught how to play an instrument by their late father Ray Rios. Xavier also writes his own music which is mostly country.

“My dad was the one who taught me how to play the keyboard,” Aaron said. “I was able to pick it up after five years of not playing.”

Both Gomez and Zamora come from a very strong music background. Zamora having played with his dad’s band La Familia for many years.

“It’s our background, it’s in our blood,” Gomez said.

Thousands of Tejano Music Fans from across the country will travel to the Historic Market Square in Downtown San Antonio for the Annual 33rd Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair 2013.

The Fan Fair offers an up close and personal atmosphere with live music on six stages featuring emerging acts to top veteran performers.

The family oriented event offers plenty of traditional food, beverage and vendor booths. In addition, fans will get exclusive access to their favorite artists participating in the special autograph sessions scheduled during all three days of the event.

“It is an honor and privilege to be playing on the same stage as people like Grupo Mazz and Grupo Siggno,” said Aaron Rios.

" Congratulations Sabor Latino! Dont let the negative comments affect you because as usual, with success come haters.
Shame on the people who are putting down some of the band because of this. Be happy for all of them! They are all extremely talented musicians & whether or not they came from a musical background, picked up an instrument and taught themselves or not, because at the end of it all, for whatever reason, they came together as a band and received this amazing opportunity. (which I'm sure is only the first of many.)
Support them all because without each and everyone of them, this wouldn't even be happening. "

" Instead of bringing all these negative vibes, I on the other hand want to congratulate Sabor Latino, the entire band. It takes all these young men to make it work and instead of all this negativity maybe we should just give them props for accomplishing what they have in such a short time of playing together. Congrats Sabor Latino all 6 of you deserve praise and I hope you do well in San Antonio and kick some major butt.... "

Seriously you people need to deal with it and go on with the flow, I am sure that everyone is an important piece of the band thats why the band is so successfull. I seriously dont understand why you have to be bad mouthing like this. Find a job, get a life, get drunk please do something instead of creating controversy. "

Wheres the rest of the band wrote on Feb 7, 2013 9:58 AM:

" Its so Typical that only specific members of this group are getting credit for their talent. I recall seeing AJ and David play numerous shows as well as win many awards for their talents. These young men dedicated most of their free time to music and exceed expectations when they play. There's a lot more musical history behind Aj and David than mentioned . Its a band its only fair that every member gets the credit deserved. But then again, some need the spotlight more than others at times. Best of luck to Sabor Latino at the Fan fair and lets not forget the other part of the group AJ and David! "

What Makes A Band wrote on Feb 6, 2013 8:55 PM:

" Nice Article, but it is sad to see that both AJ and David don't get enough credit. I agree with Credit where Credit is due. Aj and David have played for numerous charity events in the past, raising money for the House of Hope, playing for the students at RBMS and other events where they have donated a lot of thier free time. Aj and David come from great musical backgrounds as well, and in competitions have won best vocal awards and best bassist along with placing in the top three in their former bands. A band cannot stand with just one member. You each have an important part and history. "

" Ryburn and Lopez also come from a very strong music background. Their grandfather was a musician and so are their uncles. These two young men are very talented musicians. "
