Stevenson students honored

Stevenson Elementary held their fourth and fifth grade honor roll awards assembly on Jan. 30 in the Stevenson cafeteria.


Fourteen Stevenson students participated in the school spelling bee and the winner moves on the Cochise County spelling bee on Feb. 9. Fourth grade teachers gave out three Principal’s Honor Roll certificates and 19 A-B Honor Roll certificates.

Fifth grade teachers handed out 13 Principal’s Honor roll certificates and 33 A-B Honor Roll certificates.

During the awards assembly the Stevenson PTSO members Annabel Abril, Dyana Ortiz, Karime Velasco and Claudia Balderama recognized the spelling bee participants; Luis Cordova, Adriana Coronel, Victor Daniel-Stuppi, Andre De La Cruz, Luis Felix, Emmalee Frederickson, Michelle Leyva, Isabel Tanabe, Joaquin Valenzuela, Lluvia Valenzuela, Isaac Varela, Derae Villicana. Runner-up speller was Alexy Galaz and the first place winner was Jesus Siqueiros.

Siqueiros will be participating in the Cochise County spelling bee on Feb. 9, at the Sierra Vista Cochise College campus. If for some unforeseen reason Siqueiros is not able to attend the spelling bee Alexy Galaz will take his place.

The winning word for the Stevenson spelling bee was “formula”.
