Pet rabies and wellness clinics coming up Douglas Dispatch High Desert Veterinary Service in conjunction with the City of Douglas Police and Animal Control Dept. will be holding a rabies vaccination clinic on Feb. 23 at the 10th Street Park, from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. City of Douglas licenses which are required by law are also available for purchase. Rabies vaccination shots for dogs and cats will be offered for $20; $25 for most other annual boosters and $35 for the rabies and distemper combo. Rabies vaccinations are required by state law and must be given by a licensed veterinarian. By vaccinating pets against rabies the public can protect itself from exposure to this fatal disease. Wellness clinic Feb. 21-22 The City of Douglas Animal Shelter and the Santa Cruz Veterinary Clinic will hold a low cost spay/neuter and wellness clinic on February 21 and 22. Fees are cat neuter $25, dog neuter $75, cat spay $55, dog spay $85 up to 50 pounds, $100 50-100 pounds, $130 over 100 pounds. Vaccination clinic will be from 2 – 4 p.m. no appointment necessary. All vaccines $15 each, deworming $15, toe nail trims $15 each and anal gland expression $15. Dr. Neal takes appointments for other medical issues with pets.
