Wolfpack sweeps Cougars By Bruce WhettenDouglas Dispatch The Paul Huber Middle School Wolfpack hosted the Ray Borane Middle School Cougars for a friendly basketball game Friday between the two middle schools. In the girls game Huber won 36-7 while the Huber boys pulled off a 27-20 win. The teams played four eight minute quarters. Huber teacher Louie Roqueni had been having an open gym for the students after school. He said he got in contact with teachers at Ray Borane who agreed to set up a game between the three different grade levels. Friday’s game was between seventh graders. Next week the eighth graders will play and then the sixth. Roqueni said his Wolfpack team will be at Ray Borane this Friday at 4 p.m. for a seventh grade rematch. They will then play again Saturday at the conclusion of the Paul Denham basketball tournament only this time in the DHS gym. Roqueni said he’d like to thank the crowd that showed up to the game and cheered on the two teams. |
