Anna Belle Holbrook Jeffries Harris Anna Belle Holbrook Jeffries Harris (Teri Amber Johnson) was born March 16, 1925 to Isabelle Holbrook Jeffries and George Jeffries in Douglas, Arizona and passed away in Flagstaff, AZ on February 11, 2013. Anna Belle went to school in Douglas, AZ and attended USC in Los Angeles where she studied nursing. During World War II she cared for returning troops and participated in USO activities. She met her future husband Friday Harris at Melody Record Bar in Los Angeles where both she and her mother Isabelle worked and he was a customer. They were married April 7, 1946, in Las Vegas. In the era of stay at home moms, Anna Belle had three children while having her own modeling agency, took acting classes where she met and befriended Marilyn Monroe. Anna Belle (Teri) worked as an extra in several movies in the late ‘50’s and early ‘60’s, including “Rally ‘Round The Flag, Boys!”, “Auntie Mame” and “Damn Yankees”. Along with her husband and children, Anna Belle (Teri) performed in civic light opera and the Spotlighters Community Theatre; she also participated in several vocal trios, including the Mac Trio. After the death of her husband in 1976, she became the sales manager for Oster, South America and was based in Columbia where she did a weekly television show spotlighting their products and various uses. When she returned to the United States, she spent time traveling and in her 60’s opened her own vitamin and nutritional store called The Orange Tree in Laguna Beach, California. Anna Belle (Teri) moved to Sedona, AZ where she enjoyed living among the beautiful red rocks and their spirituality and worked as a hospice caretaker. She later moved to the Bellingham, WA area and after being a widow for 30 years, she met and married Jim Johnson on August 19, 2006. Anna Belle (Teri) i is preceded in death by both husbands and leaves behind three children – Michael (Margaret) Harris, Jeffrey (Jan) Harris and Pamela Oedekerk (J.R.) McNew – five grandchildren – Coral, Samantha, Lisa, Jeff & Michael and ten great-grandchildren – Halah, Ilah, Morgan, Saylor, River, Van, Evan, Skylar, Reef and Olive. She leaves behind two cousins, Florence Holbrook (Benny) Scott and Jimmy (Cheryl) Holbrook, their children and numerous relatives. Anna Belle (Teri) also leaves behind three stepsons and two stepdaughters, 11 step grand and 8 step great-grandchildren. Anna Belle (Teri)’s greatest achievement in life was her family. She found beauty in everyone she met. We remember most her enduring love and positive outlook. She was a joy to know and will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held later this year. |
