Nicolas Arvizu passed away on March 3, 2013 at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center.



Nicolas was born on September 2, 1937 in Jecori Sonora, Mexico. His parents were Jose and Leonor Arvizu of Jecori. He had three sisters, Beatriz Arvizu of Douglas, Antonia Vasquez (Juan) of Jecori and Anita Sodari (Jose) of Sierra Vista, AZ and one brother, Jose Arvizu (Maria Jesus) also of Jecori.

Nicolas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Guadalupe Arvizu, sons, Martin Arvizu (Carmen), Miguel Arvizu (Erica), Jose Arvizu (Michelle) and daughters, Lupita Arvizu and Jessica Arvizu of Douglas, AZ. His son Gabriel Arvizu passed away January 2009. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Nicholas moved to Douglas in 1952 and all his children were born in Douglas, except for Gabriel, whom was born in Jecori. They all were raised in Douglas and attended schools here. Nicolas worked at several businesses in Douglas including The Coca Cola Company of Douglas, the hospital, plantation fields, and odd jobs working as a handy man where he met many friends. He was a hard worker with a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed by everyone.

A rosary will be at 7:00pm on Tuesday March 5, 2013 at St. Bernard Church in Pirtleville, AZ. The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday March 6, 2013 at 12:00pm at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be at 1:00pm at Calvary Cemetery.
