Raquel V. Ramsey, born November 14, 1914 in Bacerac, Sonora, Mexico, passed away March 3, 2013 in Douglas, Arizona.


Raquel immigrated to this country in 1926 with her parents David D. and Gabriella O. Valencia and later became a U.S. citizen. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Lee Ramsey, her parents and brother, Jose O. Valencia.

She is survived by her son Burl David Ramsey (Ernestina), and daughter Betty Jo Carrizoza (Raul). Grandchildren David N. (Thelma), Alan Lee (Yadira), George S. (Lorenia), Christina M., Raul G. (Marisol) and Ricardo J. Carrizoza. Great Grandchildren Diana, Nicole, Julia, Sebastian, Sophia, Gabriel, Patrick and Camilla. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Arizona, California, Idaho, Iowa and Chicago.

Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Brown Page Mortuary Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Pirtleville, Arizona. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated following the Rosary at 10 a.m. with Father Gilbert Malu officiating. Burial will follow at the Julia Page Memorial Park in Douglas.

Pallbearers who will serve are Burl D. Ramsey, David N. Ramsey, George S. Ramsey, Raul G. Carrizoza, Ricardo J. Carrizoza and Carlos Ortiz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Raul F. Carrizoza, Alan L. Ramsey, Sebastian L. Ramsey, Julia Ramsey, Sophia I. Ramsey, Patrick N. Ramsey, Camilla L. Ramsey and Gabriel G. Carrizoza.
