High Desert Veterinary Service in conjunction with the City of Douglas Police and Animal Control Dept. held a rabies vaccination clinic Saturday, Feb. 23 at the 10th Street Park.

Event organizers report that for the second straight clinic close to 100 dogs and cats were vaccinated in a six-hour period.

City of Douglas licenses which are required by law were also available for purchase.

An another clinic will be held March 23 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. also at Castro Park.

Rabies vaccination shots for dogs and cats will be offered for $20; $25 for most other annual boosters and $35 for the rabies and distemper combo.

Rabies vaccinations are required by state law and must be given by a licensed veterinarian. By vaccinating pets against rabies the public can protect itself from exposure to this fatal disease.
