Thanks for help with fundraiser Dear Editor: I would like to sincerely thank the all the people of Douglas who contributed to my barbacoa fundraiser this past Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the American Legion Post #11. As you know, the fundraiser was to raise money for my trip to Washington D.C. this May with other students who are also in the National Honor Society. Thanks to all of you, I raised enough money to be able to pay for my trip!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I’m very excited about the trip and I’m looking forward to all the sites we’ll be seeing such as the Lincoln Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, The Smithsonian and so many more! I feel very fortunate to live in a great community like Douglas that seems to always support its people in need. I’m looking forward to hopefully, sometime in the near future, be able to give back by volunteering for something that will benefit someone else. I would like to give very SPECIAL THANKS to the following people for putting it all together because without them, it wouldn’t have happened. My Mom (Patty Gonzales), Joey Grajeda, my Nana Loli, Tia Chacha, Tata David, Rosa Yanez, Tio David, Diana Escojido, Pie and Barbie Escarcega, Letty Hernandez, Mari Rivera, Norma Ochoa, Janette Rojas, Lizza Sproule, Teri Weizer and Rosie Mendoza. You all worked so hard. Thank you. Also a huge thanks to the American Legion Post #11 for giving us a place to serve the food and to Howard at KDAP for letting us announce it on the Trading Post. Sincerely, Raul Jimenez |
