The Douglas Library kicked off its monthly musical guest with the Simmons Musical Group on Aug. 29 at the library.
The group members have been playing and singing together for five years.
The group’s 12 family members consist of Ray (dad), Kerry (mom), and their 10 kids Deborah, 22, Sarah, 20, Jeremiah, 19, James, 17, Joseph, 15, Jacob, 13, Michael, 12, Rachel, 10, Ruth, 8 and Steven 3.
Each of the children play a musical instrument raging from five string bongo, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, guitar, mountain dulcimer, auto harp and acoustic bass.
“Over the years the old children have taught the younger ones how to play a musical instrument,” Kerry Simmons said.
They enjoy sharing their talents with anyone willing to listen. The group is known for their blue grass and old time gospel.
The Simmons play around Cochise County, nursing homes, various churches and the Douglas farmers market.
