The Stevenson Elementary PTSO continues efforts to raise funds for new playground equipment with a walk-a-thon held on May 3.

“We have been working very hard for the past two years on raising the funds to buy Stevenson Elementary School a new playground set,” PTSO President Anabel Abril said. “So far we have raised around $13,000. We have found specials for playgrounds and we would be off about $3,000 but that does not include shipping and labor, which amounts to about $15,000 more.”

Each grade took turns walking or running from Adams down 12th Street across Madison up 11th Street and back across Adams, twice.

Afterward the PTSO provided the Stevenson students with water, a juice pop, and crackers along with a medal for participation.

Stevenson staff and parents took turns monitoring the students while they walked/ran around the school.

“We, (Stevenson PTSO), would like to thank those who came out and we hope that our Douglas community will be able to help us out,” Abril said.
